The Museum of Saxon Vehicles Chemnitz
The German region that today forms the Free State of Saxony is renowned for being on the forefront of technonlogical development for more than two hundred years. One of the most important industries is the motoring industry and it has already been for at least a century. Our museum is dedicated to preserve, display and explain this rich heritage, concentrating on car, motorbike and bicycle manufacturers and their respective products.
Over 200 exhibits of more than 50 diffent regional companies are permanentely on display. A special focus is on almost forgotten marques and on prototypes. But also cars and bikes of well-known large scale producers such as DKW, MZ, Wanderer or Auto Union are shown, including racing specials. Parts of original assembly lines, a collection of stationary engines and contemporary illustrations bring the Saxon motoring heritage alive. Temporary exhibitions as well as various events highlight different aspects of the innovative industry’s past and present.
